Score Metrics
Common Screening Workflows
1. Sector Risk Analysis
Select "Technology" sector → Filter by "AI Risk" → Sort by Coverage Score → Export top exposed companies
2. Portfolio Construction
Set "Top 20" limit → Apply sector/industry filters → Sort by Raw Score → Export for portfolio
3. Risk Factor Deep Dive
Select specific risk factors → Sort by Intensity Score → Review risk breakdowns → Export detailed analysis
How to Read This Heatmap
Coverage Score
Breadth of risk exposure. Shows what percentage of risk types affect this company.
Formula: (Number of risks with evidence) ÷ (Total number of risks) × 100%
Example: If a company is exposed to 3 out of 10 risk types, Coverage Score = 30%
Intensity Score
Weighted average of risk evidence. Higher scores when evidence is concentrated in popular risks rather than spread across many risks.
Formula: Weighted average of evidence scores, where popular risks (with more evidence across all companies) have higher weight
Example: A company with evidence in the most popular risk gets a higher score than one with the same amount of evidence spread across less popular risks
Raw Score
Total evidence sum. The sum of all found and processed chunks of texts for each company across all risks.
Formula: Sum of all evidence scores across all risk types for this company
Example: If a company has evidence scores of [5, 3, 2] for 3 risks, Raw Score = 10
Risk-Based Scoring
When viewing by risks: The same scores are calculated across companies for each risk.
• Risk Coverage: Percentage of companies exposed to this risk
• Risk Intensity: Weighted average of evidence across all companies for this risk
• Risk Raw Score: Sum of all found and processed chunks of texts across all companies for this risk

How the Risk Analyzer Works
The Risk Analyzer combines hybrid semantic search, risk factor taxonomies, and structured validation techniques to transform unstructured data into actionable risk intelligence.
Why It Matters
Understanding how companies are exposed to highly uncertain scenarios and risk channels, like geopolitical and economic risks, is critical for informed decision-making. As shifting policies, sanctions, and trade barriers redefine market dynamics, organizations must proactively assess their vulnerability to emerging threats.
What It Does
The Risk Analyzer systematically analyzes corporate exposure to specific risk channels using unstructured data from news, earnings calls, and regulatory filings. It delivers targeted extraction of risk signals, standardized exposure metrics, and actionable insights for investment strategies.
The Analysis Process
Taxonomy Creation
The system automatically generates a hierarchical risk taxonomy using AI, breaking down complex risk scenarios into well-defined risks and sub-scenarios for targeted analysis.
Example: "US Import Tariffs against China" → Trade Relations, Supply Chain, Market Access, IP Risks
Content Retrieval
Leverages hybrid semantic search to retrieve relevant content from massive unstructured datasets, including news articles, earnings calls, and regulatory filings.
Searches across multiple document types with configurable date ranges and source filtering
Semantic Labeling
Uses AI to analyze each text chunk and determine its relevance to specific risk sub-scenarios. Filters out content that doesn't explicitly link companies to risk factors.
Each piece of evidence is validated for relevance and context before scoring
Risk Scoring
Calculates standardized exposure metrics for each company, including composite scores, coverage scores, and intensity scores to enable cross-firm comparison.
Scores are normalized and comparable across companies, sectors, and time periods
Key Features
Targeted Extraction
Extracts risk signals and supporting evidence from massive unstructured datasets with precision.
Standardized Metrics
Provides consistent exposure metrics to compare risk across firms, sectors, and portfolios.
Actionable Insights
Generates insights that inform investment strategies and enterprise risk decisions.
Understanding the Scores
Raw Score
Total volume of evidence found. Represents the sum of all identified and processed text chunks linking a company to any risk type across the entire analysis.
Formula: Sum of all evidence scores across all risk types for this company
Example: If a company has evidence scores of [5, 3, 2] for 3 risks, Raw Score = 10
Coverage Score
Breadth of risk exposure. Shows the proportion of risk types that affect a company, revealing whether exposure is narrow or broad across categories.
Formula: (Number of risks with evidence) ÷ (Total number of risks) × 100%
Example: If a company is exposed to 3 out of 10 risk types, Coverage Score = 30%
Intensity Score
Depth of exposure weighted by risk frequency. Concentrated evidence in commonly-seen risks across companies yields higher scores than evidence scattered across less common risks.
Formula: Weighted average of evidence scores, where frequently-observed risks have higher weight
Example: A company with concentrated evidence in common risks scores higher than one with the same total evidence spread across rare risks
